Here’s an interesting little nugget that came out of the NHL’s revised proposal for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with the players.
According to multiple reports, the league is proposing the Winnipeg Jets switch places with the Columbus Blue Jackets beginning with the 2013-14 season.
That would mean the Blue Jackets would join the Capitals, Panthers, Lightning and Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference’s Southeast Division and the Jets would join Chicago, Detroit, Nashville and St. Louis in the Western Conference’s Central Division.
Geographically, it makes a ton of sense to put Winnipeg in the West. And if you’re a Caps fan, wouldn’t you rather battle the Blue Jackets for a playoff spot than the Jets?
It’s just a thought, but would the switch make the Southeast Division the weakest in the NHL?
