'Nothing's changed' for locked out Caps

Capitals center Brooks Laich skated by the only reporter atthe Capitals practice facility Thursday morning and shouted, Nothingschanged.He was referring, of course, to the stalled labornegotiations between the NHL players union and the league as the lockoutentered Day 5. NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly and NHLPA deputy executivedirector Steve Fehr reportedly spoke on Wednesday but have no plans to speakfor the remainder of this week.On the ice at Kettler on Thursday, there were a few changesfrom the day before. Defenseman John Carlson and forwards Marcus Johansson andMattias Sjogren re-joined the group, as did free agent goaltender BrentJohnson.The others on the ice were Laich, Matt Hendricks and JayBeagle, bringing the total to six skaters and a goalie. Forwards Nicklas Backstrom and Jason Chimera, regular attendees at the morning skates, did not skate with theothers.
