With seven straight losses and only eight goals in their last seven games, the Caps could use some good news. Saturday night, they got it as captain Alex Ovechkin returned to the lineup.
Ovechkin missed the team's last two games with an upper body injury and the team struggled without him, losing both games and scoring only once. As the NHL's leading scorer with 35 goals, the Capitals desperately need him if they hope to generate any offense against Carey Price and the Canadiens.
Though Ovechkin may be back, the Caps are still be down one of their top offensive players. Mikhail Grabovski went down awkwardly in Friday's game against New Jersey after getting tangled up with Bryce Salvador and is out with an apparent knee injury.
Casey Wellman was recalled from AHL Hershey and to replace Grabovski in the lineup.
