Ovi preaches patience on the power play

Rookie defenseman Patrick Wey will make his NHL debut tonight when the Nashville Predators visit the Capitals at Verizon Center [7 p.m. CSN].

Wey, 22, will be the third Capitals defenseman to make his NHL debut this season, joining Connor Carrick and Nate Schmidt. Michael Latta also made his NHL debut this season. Wey is expected to play alongside 22-year-old defenseman Dmitry Orlov. More on Wey’s debut later today.

Braden Holtby [12-9-1, 2.75 GAA] is expected to get the start.

Judging from the morning skate, defensemen John Erskine, Alex Urbom and Steve Oleksy will be healthy scratches.
