The Shane Doan watch is on, but dont expect the Capitals to be on the short list of NHL teams the Coyotes free-agent captain would be willing to sign with if he chooses not to return to Phoenix.

According to Sarah MacLellan of the Arizona Republic, Doan has just three teams hes willing to play for other than the Coyotes and they appear to be the Penguins, Kings and Red Wings. The Canucks are another team that might make Doan's list.

Doan, 35, is the most sought-after free agent remaining on the market. In 1,198 career games in the NHL Doan has 318 goals and 788 points.

Meanwhile, the San Jose Sharks hired former Devils assistant coach Larry Robinson as their associate coach on Monday, ending speculation Robinson might join Capitals coach Adam Oates as his assistant coach.

Oates and Robinson worked together as Peter DeBoers assistants in New Jersey. Oates hit the ice for the first time with the Capitals prospects on Monday, along with associate goaltending coach Olie Kolzig.

Oates is expected to name his assistant coaches later this month.
