Top USA teenagers to practice at Kettler

Some of next year’s top NHL draft picks will be at Kettler Capitals Iceplex next week when the U.S. Under-17 and Under-18 select teams practice at the Capitals’ facility from Aug. 3-7.

The U.S. Under-18 team is scheduled to practice at Kettler on Sunday from 8-9:10 p.m., on Monday from 9:10-10:30 a.m. and 6:50-8 p.m., and on Tuesday from 8:40-10 a.m. in preparation for the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, which will be held Aug. 11-16 in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Piestany, Slovakia.

The Hlinka Memorial also eatures teams from Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland. 

The Under-17 Select Team is scheduled to practice at Kettler on Wednesday from 8:10-9:20 p.m. and Thursday from 8:40-10 a.m. in preparation for the 2014 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament, which will take place Aug. 13-17 in Crimmitschau, Germany. The tournament will also include teams from the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia and Switzerland. 

Each of the Team USA practices will be free and open to the public.
