Miss the intensity Gary Williams brought to college basketball? If so, you are in luck.
The former Maryland Terrapins head coach will join Comcast SportsNet as a college basketball analyst. Williams will regularly appear on the network's news and entertainment programs including Geico SportsNet Central and SportsTalk Live.
Williams retired as Maryland’s head basketball coach in 2011 after 22 seasons with the school. He led the Terps to 14 NCAA Tournament appearances including two Final Fours and a national title in 2002.
A graduate of the University of Marlyand, Williams won 461 games as the school’s head coach. Overall he compiled a 668-380 head coaching record with American University, Boston College, Ohio State, and Maryland.
“With his experience and knowledge, Gary is the epitome of a college basketball authority, especially when it comes to this region’s programs,” said Comcast SportsNet President Rebecca Schulte. “His addition to our team of experts is another example of Comcast SportsNet’s commitment to providing the most comprehensive and compelling sports coverage in the region.”
Comcast SportsNet’s 131-game college basketball schedule featuring games from the ACC, CAA, Atlantic 10, Patriot League and other conferences will tip off on November 9.
