Baltimore native and Top 100 guard prospect Phil Booth has narrowed his list of possible college suitors and Georgetown has made the cut.

The Hoyas, Virginia, Villanova, Temple, and Indiana are the final schools from which Booth will choose, he confirmed via his Twitter account on Tuesday morning.

Booth was once considering Maryland, but the commitments of Roddy Peters in 2013, plus Romelo Trimble and Dion Wiley in 2014 make for a crowded backcourt and would mean there are likely more available minutes elsewhere.

"I've talked to Phil [about committing to Maryland] and I'm not sure on him," Wiley told CSN this weekend. His prediction appears to have been accurate.

Georgetown, Indiana, and Villanova have been frontrunners for much of Booth's recruitment. Indiana has strong ties to his AAU program, Team Takeover, including local product and No. 2 overall pick Victor Oladipo. Assistant Kenny Johnson was once on staff with Takeover, as well.

If Booth chooses Georgetown, that could put him in line to succeed senior-to-be Markel Starks. He would be the second guard commitment from the Class of 2014, joining St. John's (D.C.) guard Tre Campbell, a teammate of Booth's with Takeover. Jabril Trawick will be a senior and D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera will be a junior for Georgetown by the time Booth comes to college.

He would bring a solid set of skills to either guard spot, were he to choose Georgetown. He is a willing passer and can effectively get to the basket, but can also facilitate an offense and shoot from the outside with relative consistency.

Booth will suit up for Team USA East in the Nike Global Challenge this week at Trinity College in D.C. and Comcast SportsNet will have an update on his recruitment to follow in the coming days.
