Georgetown junior forward Greg Whittington, who averaged 12.1 points last season, has been dismissed from the team, the school announced on Saturday before the Hoyas hosted Lipscomb.

The 6-foot-8 forward has not played this season after tearing his left ACL this summer and undergoing surgery. Whittington only played 13 games last season before an academic suspension sidelined him for the final 19 games. At the time of his suspension, Whittington ranked second behind Otto Porter in points and rebounds (7.0). His last game for Georgetown was on January 8 in a loss to Pittsburgh.

The statement released by the school did not state a reason for the Columbia native's dismissal.

"I think Greg grew up a lot this year, a hell of a lot." Thompson told CSNwashington last May. "It was painful for him...He's made strides, not just in the classroom, but who he is. He's growing up."
