From now on during basketball games held at George Washington's Smith Center, should a play-by-play announcer describe a long range shot as being taken from say the White House, don't assume that is hyperbole.
The school unveiled a new court design on Monday which features images of the White House, the Capitol (which is in 3-point range) and a near sideline-to-sideline Washington Monument. Basketball and volleyball games will be played on the court.
Not going to lie, this is a rather cool look. Apparently a certain GW men's basketball coach agrees.
"I was born and raised in the Capital region, so this city is special to me," Mike Lonergan said in a statement released by the school. "This new court design has added meaning as I have spent the majority of my life in our nation's capital first as a student then as coach. We will play with great pride on this new floor."
