One day after the the July 4 holiday comes another annual staple on the summer schedule: The start of the Nike Pro-City Jabbo Kenner League at McDonough Arena on Georgetown University campus.

Games begin on July 5 with players from local colleges, including Georgetown and George Washington, plus drop-ins from former and current professional players. Essentially games are played on Saturday and Sunday through the championship game on August 10.

For most in the area this is the first opportunity to see the incoming freshmen. Georgetown's five-player class, including forward and five-star recruit Isaac Copeland, ranks eighth nationally according to ESPN. GW also has a five-member class led by center Matt Cimino.

There is one notable change this year thanks to the NCAA. Typically teams could not have more than two active college players on the roster. However, incoming freshmen were not considered active college players and therefore could all be in one team, which is exactly what Georgetown did for years. Now the NCAA has changed the game so the Hoyas will not be able to put their freshman five on "The Tombs."

Take the idea of "rosters" with a grain of salt in the rather loosely-run league, especially on a week to week basis. Here's what we know regarding the Hoyas and Colonials.

The Tombs - Freshmen Isaac Copeland and LJ Peak (Hoyas)

Clydes - Freshmen Tre Campbell and Paul White (Hoyas); freshmen Matt Cimino and Paul Jorgensen (Colonials)

Team Takeover -Jabril Trawick and Mikael Hopkins (Hoyas); Nick Griffin and Kethan Savage (Colonials)

DCX  - Aaron Bowen and Bradley Hayes (Hoyas); Kevin Larsen and freshman Darian Bryant (Colonials)

A. Was Associates - D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera and freshman Trey Mourning (Hoyas); Freshmen Anthony Swan and Yuta Watanabe (Colonials)
