The NCAA has denied eligibility for University of Maryland basketball transfer Dez Wells for the 2012-13 season, this according to The Washington Post.

Wells is transferring to Maryland from Xavier University after being expelled for violating the student conduct code.

Wells was a freshman sensation with Xavier in 2011-12 before being expelled back in April. In his first season with the Musketeers, Wells averaged 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He is a 6'5" shooting guard and small forward originally from Raleigh, NC.

Maryland is expected to appeal the ruling in hopes he can still play this season.
