Bad joke aside, Virginia's basketball campaign has gotten off on the wrong foot.Senior guard and returning starter Jontel Evans underwent surgery on his right foot Tuesday and will miss six weeks, the school announced on Tuesday.Evans began suffering pain last week during workouts, leading to the revalation ofa stress fracture and the decision to undergo surgery.The 5-foot-11 guard started all 32 games for the Cavaliers during last season's NCAA Tournament appearing season, averaging 7.3 points and 3.9 assists. The ACC All-Defensive team member also led Virginia with 50 steals. If the timetable for recovery proves accurate, Evans would only miss two games. The Cavaliers open the2012-13 season on Nov. 9 at George Masonand host Fairfield on Nov. 12 inthe NIT Season Tip-Off.
