With less than one week before the beginning of the NCAA Tournament, Virginia Commonwealth coach Shaka Smart revealed that the team will go into the postseason down a player.

News broke Wednesday that reserve center D.J. Haley will leave the basketball team to focus on his academics. Haley saw the court for about six minutes a game, averaging a little over two points and two rebounds per game.

Earlier this season, Haley took a leave of absence from the team. The No. 25 ranked Rams begin their postseason Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. VCU will face the winner of Xavier vs St Josephs.
