June 2, 2008 - CSN Enhances June Schedule With Unforgettable Games Featuring D.C.’s Favorite Teams

(June 2, 2008) – Comcast SportsNet, the leader in local sports television, announced today a schedule of memorable games from three top D.C. professional franchises that will air throughout the month of June. The network will feature all four D.C. United Championship matches, the most exciting games from the 2007-08 historical Washington Capitals season – including Games 1 and 7 from the Stanley Cup playoff series against Philadelphia, and key matchups featuring the 2007-08 Washington Wizards fourth-straight run to the NBA playoffs.

Comcast SportsNet kicks off the month with D.C. United Championship Week, premiering on June 2 at 7 p.m. with United play-by-play host Dave Johnson providing commentary on each title game. The network will feature all four of United’s MLS Cup Championships – 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2004 – in chronological order beginning Monday and ending Friday, June 6. Highlighting the week will be D.C. United’s matchup against Houston Dynamo, which will air live on the network in high definition Wednesday, June 4, at 7:30 p.m.

Capitals: Season to Remember debuts Monday, June 9, at 7 p.m. as the network airs coach Bruce Boudreau’s first game as head coach of the Washington Capitals from November 23, 2007 – the start of an incredible run in which Boudreau took the Capitals from last place in the Eastern Conference to a Southeast Division title. Capitals announcer Joe Beninati will serve as host, giving special insight into each matchup. The week will also feature Games 1 and 7 from the team’s first-round playoff matchup against the Flyers, both of which were decided by just one goal.

On Monday, June 16, Comcast SportNet will begin Best of the Wizards 2007-08, featuring the team’s top games of the past season including the dramatic Game 5 playoff matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Voiced by Wizards analyst Steve Buckhantz, these five memorable games air throughout the week at 7 p.m.
