NEW YORK (AP) Comments on the Carolina Panthers by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
CAROLINA PANTHERS (25)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 25) - Nothing could be finer than first win since September.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 17) - They are not as bad as record indicates, but they need to improve at finishing games.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 29)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 24) - Win in Washington helps, but coaching staff definitely on high alert.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 25) - Cam Newton shows RG3 a thing or two, as the Panthers end a five-game losing streak.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 28) - The Panthers have 10 sacks in their last two games, both on the road. End Greg Hardy has 4½ of them.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 27) - Ah, yes, the icon is back. One victory, and Cam is back to his Superman impersonation. Someone tell him Superman wouldn't be 2-6.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 28) - One day, they will remember they are a run-first offense.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 27) - A much needed win over the Redskins stopped the bleeding at least for a week. A team without a GM will struggle the rest of the season. Peyton Manning is coming to town this week and the former Panthers coach John Fox.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 28) - The Panthers responded vs. the Redskins and looked good in doing so. Now John Fox returns to Charlotte - with Peyton Manning in tow - to face his old team.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 26) - The Redskins' homecoming weekend theme struck a chord of disrespect with Carolina, which finally produced a solid offensive performance in last Sunday's 21-13 road victory.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 26) - Nothing motivates better than desperation, and this is a desperate team.
