Tarik El-Bashir has trouble with the 40-yard-dash
In a big day for CSN Washington talent out at Redskins Park, Redskins reporter Tarik El-Bashir decided to get in on the action.
After a breif discussion of El-Bashir's speed among the Redskins reporters, Associated Press reporter Joseph White challenged El-Bashir to a 40-yard dash. When the race started, El-Bashir got out to a lead, but things fell apart quickly; ie Tarik did a faceplant onto the turf about 10 yards into the race.
"It might have been a little slippery," El-Bashir said. "I probably should not have slipped."
Since the first race ended without a true winner, El-Bashir and White lined up for a rematch.
White won the second race by a few feet, El-Bashir admitted. Unable to confirm White's age, El-Bashir said that the AP reporter was probably 10 or 15 years older.
Despite his slip in the first race, which left El-Bashir with bruised ribs and carpet burns, and a legitimate loss in the second, he remained upbeat about his time.
"I was clocked at 5.9 [seconds]," he said. "Not bad for a 37-year-old guy who hasn't run in 20 years."
