Now that the NFL 2014 Draft is in the rearview, it’s of course time to look ahead to those future passers, pass catchers, pass blockers, pass rushers and pass defenders.
We won’t go down the mock draft route for 2015 just yet. Better to have the players play and let those kinds of projections take place based on talent and results rather than speculation of what’s to come. We can all agree the Oakland Raiders are the leading contender for the first overall pick, right?
That said, there are players we’re keeping an eye on from the start. Marcus Mariota and Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston are the headliners, though they’re not the only quarterbacks with first-round upside. Teams needing those who can collapse the pocket and those who can protect it should have plenty of options as well.
We’re a long way off, but imagining the Redskins looking for a safety, defensive lineman or cornerback isn’t a major leap. Those positions are covered in CSNwashington’s look at 20 prospects in the 2015 NFL Draft.
