BALTIMORE - The Redskins pass rush has looked strong all preseason, but in the second quarter against the Ravens Saturday night, the defense got a scare. Outside linebacker Brian Orakpo left the field during the second quarter with an apparent ankle injury.

The extent of the injury is unknown, though it did not seem severe. Orakpo was able to get off the field on his own power without much of a limp.
With Orakpo joined by Ryan Kerrigan, free agent addition Jason Hatcher and rookie Trent Murhpy, the pass rush produced against the Ravens first-team offense. Washington sacked Ravens QB Joe Flacco twice in the first half, one each for Kerrigan and Hatcher.
A fierce pass rush will be the lynchpin to a strong defense in Washington this season, as the team invested heavily both through free agency with Hather and the draft with Murphy in pressuring opposing quarterbacks. Any injury to Orakpo would be a big blow to the defense. Expect much more coverage as things develop.
