Another week has gone by and the tease that is NFL preseason is underway. If you were too busy pre-planning your fantasy football draft you might not have had time to keep up with your news feeds. In case you missed it, here is what happened this week in social media.
1) MLB fans got pretty creative with how they taunt opposing players. The taunting signs began being targeted at San Francisco Giants Hunter Pence, but then expanded to other major leaguers. These are a couple of the signs that popped up at various baseball games this past week.
And if you're heading out to a Nats or O's game in the near future, feel free to add your least favorite athlete's name to one of these pre-made insults.
[Insert Name Here] still uses AOL Instant Messenger.
[Insert Name Here] just updated his Top 8 on Myspace.
[Insert Name Here] thought Tammy wasn't that bad.
2) Happy belated birthday to Adam Jones! Not only did the O's defeat the Mariners on his special day but he also got hooked up by Popeye's Chicken. They sent the outfielder a custom letterman jacket and birthday cake. No word yet if it was original or cajun style.
3) The Washington Redskins, like all NFL teams are preparing for the upcoming season. They are getting their bodies and minds into top-notch shape, which can be a little daunting. This week Washington TE Niles Paul shared with his followers how he was feeling mentally.
Somewhere between psychotic & iconic...— Niles Paul (@Niles_Paul84) August 7, 2014
Paul is quoting Drake's Furthest Thing, but let's keep it to football for now. The question is is he teetering towards the "Ray Lewis on game day" or the "Doug Williams" edge of the spectrum when in football-mode? Let us know what you think!
4) And Dustin Penner delivers pure gold once again, via social media of course. Having trouble finding an ideal mate? Well thanks to Penner's nifty little graph your search time will undoubtly be cut in half! Just follow his simple guidelines.
Unicorns are superior beings; ones that are majestically beautiful while also possessing sub-average levels of psychosis. No need to hide your text messages and emails from these ladies! Thank you Dustin Penner.
That's all for this week's social media roundup. Be sure to check back next week to catch up on all the things you may have missed while savoring the last few days of summer.
[UPDATED: Thanks to our reader who made me realize how out of touch I am - I'll study up on my Drake lyrics this weekend.]
