Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan missed practice Wednesday with a minor back strain.
“He just was a little bit sore today,” Coach Jay Gruden said. "We just chose to keep him out. You know Ryan is the type of guy that will go until he can’t go any longer.”
Kerrigan said he probably would have participated had it been a regular season practice. But since it was the second-to-last day of veteran minicamp, the decision was made to have Kerrigan watch from the sideline. After Thursday's practice, the Redskins are not back on the field as a group until training camp begins July 24th in Richmond.
“We just want to make sure from a preventative standpoint this time a year,” Gruden added. “He’s been busting his butt in the weight room and out there on the field. We thought it was better for him in the long run to give him a day off to get well-rested and healthy.”
