Last season Jason Hatcher shattered his previous career high in sacks, pulling down opposing quarterbacks 11 times, including a pair of takedowns on Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III. That fact wasn't lost on RG3.
“@hatcher97: Can't wait to here the crowd at Fedex field when I put a quarterback down.” Yessssss and that QB won't be me anymore— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) April 14, 2014
In eight seasons with the Cowboys, Hatcher has 27 sacks, meaning more than a third came in 2013. Skeptics would point out Hatcher's highest sack total came in a contract year, and they'd be right. His previous career high came in 2011 when Hatcher pulled down 4.5 sacks. It's also worth noting that Hatcher made the most of a position switch that allowed him to go upfield and get after the quarterback.
But now the questions turns to 2014 and Hatcher on the Redskins. He will be teamed up with pass rushers Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan, which should create opportunities for all three men to hit opposing QBs. So how many sacks will Hatcher register in 2014? Will his impact be harder to quantify? Will Hatcher's presence create more chances for 'Rak and Kerrigan?
