Cornerback Tracy Porter got his ailing hamstring examined by a doctor Wednesday and did not practice, Coach Jay Gruden said.
“We’re a little concerned,” Gruden said, asked if the oft-injured Porter might miss Sunday’s opener in Houston. Porter missed the offseason program while recovering from shoulder surgery.
If Porter can’t play, the Redskins could turn to E.J. Biggers or rookie Bashaud Breeland as the third cornerback vs. the Texans.
“If he can’t go we’re okay,” Gruden said, referring to Porter. “We have some good enough players here that are ready and have been taking a lot of work because he hasn’t been available that often in training camp and preseason. So we have guys that are ready to step up and play if he’s not ready.”
The most recent depth chart has Porter listed as the fifth corner.
Linebacker Akeem Jordan (sprained MCL) also did not practice Wednesday. Jordan told CSNWashington.com on Saturday that he’s week-to-week.
