RICHMOND—A day after being carted off the practice field with a back injury, Redskins veteran DeAngelo Hall returned Monday morning and was able to participate in a limited capacity.

“They didn’t want me to go out here, but I was like, ‘Nah, I’m going to go out here and do some individual drills, move around a little bit,’” Hall said afterward. “A little bit of pain, but night and day difference from yesterday.”

Hall said he’ll gradually ramp up his activity over the next few days and hopes to suit up Monday night against the Browns. That decision, however, won’t be made until later in the week.

“If my body permits it, I’ll definitely be out there,” Hall said. “I’m not a guy who likes to sit on the side and watch.”

Hall was injured during a one-on-one drill Sunday as he reached to swat away a pass intended for wide receiver Andre Roberts. Hall landed awkwardly and could hardly walk a few moments later.

“I tried to keep going but couldn’t keep going,” Hall said. “It got to the point where my back locked up so bad I couldn’t even walk. So I got carted off, assisted [into the facility]. I was in a wheelchair. Later in the day I was on crutches and then this morning I was walking. So it’s been a rough 12 hours or so. But I feel good.”

Hall acknowledged that he was concerned right after the injury occurred.

“It was just one of those things where I re-injured something that was already hurting,” he said. “And my body just shut down. But I’m feeling real good right now. I’m a 100-times better than I was yesterday. I went from couldn’t walk to running around. So I don’t see this as anything serious at all.”

On Sunday, Coach Jay Gruden cracked that Hall getting carted off might have been for “dramatic” effect. Hall laughed off the comments Monday, saying he really couldn’t have walked from the field to the building. He was in too much discomfort.

“They asked me to walk and I’m like, ‘I can’t put no pressure on my legs,’” Hall said. “I didn’t think I was going to make it so they went and got the cart. One of the trainers was joking, ‘Yeah, go get the cart. It just makes me look that much better when you come walking back out here.’”
