The Washington Redskins have promoted Alex Santos to be their new Director of Pro Personnel. After six seasons with the team as a pro scout, he fills the vacancy left by Morocco Brown's departure to the Cleveland Browns on May 20th.
“I appreciate the opportunity this organization has given me,” Santos said in a press release sent by the team. “I am honored that I am able to continue to grow within the NFL ranks with the Redskins organization.”
There had been speculation after Brown's departure and Bruce Allen's promotion to President/General Manager that the candidates for the then-vacant front office position would likely come from within the organization. The promotion of Santos seems to fit that bill, as he's worked closely with Brown, Director of Player Personnel Scott Campbell as well as the rest of the scouting department in his time with the team.
Santos originally joined the Redskins in 2006 as a pro personnel assistant before becoming a pro scout two years later.
