Redskins safety Phillip Thomas is expected to have his left foot examined by doctors after reporting some soreness following Saturday’s preseason game, according to Coach Jay Gruden.
It’s the same foot that had the Lisfranc injury and caused Thomas to miss the entire 2013 season.
“It’s a concern because it’s the same foot,” Gruden said Monday. “He’s going to get it checked out again. It’s just sore. It’s still bothering him. You could see a little bit that it looks like it’s bothering him. We have to get it fixed because he’s a good football player. And we need to make sure he’s healthy [and] he’s ready to play.”
Thomas suffered the Lisfranc injury in the preseason opener last season and was forced to sit out his rookie season. He returned to the field this spring—and although he recently missed time with a hamstring strain—he had not said anything about soreness in his foot.
