Robert Griffin III said in a recent interview that discord within Redskins Park last year contributed to the team’s train wreck of a season.
“What I think is going to help us most this year is that everybody in that building is going to be for us being successful and for us winning,” Griffin was quoted as saying in an article posted on FOXSports.com on Thursday. “There are no ulterior motives. That will be great.”
Griffin made the comments in Los Angeles while shooting a new commercial for Subway.
Although Griffin did not name names, he praised new Coach Jay Gruden and General Manager Bruce Allen. He made no mention of Mike Shanahan, who was fired following the Redskins’ 3-13 campaign.
“Jay has been phenomenal,” Griffin said. “Bruce Allen has done [a] great job of getting the right guys in that locker room. I tip my hat to them. They have given us everything we need to be successful. We’re going to work our butts off for them.”
Griffin added: “It’s just a new feeling in the building, a new excitement and a new energy. That’s what we needed the most. We needed something new, and now we have that. We have that hunger. That hunger is there.”
Griffin and the rest of the Redskins reconvene July 23 in Richmond for the start of training camp.
