Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III commemorated Memorial Day by outfitting his entire high school football team with adidas cleats.
But Copperas Cove (Texas) High isn’t getting just any old adidas cleats. The players are getting a special edition camouflage cleat with bright red laces and tongue and three gold stripes along the heel.
Griffin, the son of two Army sergeants, posted on Instagram a picture of himself saluting while holding up a pair of the cleats.

“On this day of remembrance, we never forget where we came from,” he wrote. “For that reason, I am sending these Special Edition Camouflage Cleats on their way to The Copperas Cove Football Program!!! I wear them to honor our soldiers! I pray you will accept this gift and wear them to honor them as well. Love You & Thank You.”
Last year, Griffin donated $100,000 in athletic gear to the Copperas Cove Independent School District to support football, basketball and track. After his rookie season, he gifted $80,000 in football uniforms and apparel—for the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams—to his alma mater.
