The Redskins are looking for big things from second-year safety Phillip Thomas this season. They may not be counting on him to start but they will want him to be at least a role player and get enough experience to be able to start next year.
We don’t know how that will turn out but he will have a full offseason to get ready. He missed all of last season with a Lisfranc injury. Thomas was expected to be cleared in time to participate in the offseason program, which starts on Monday. Today Thomas confirmed that he will be able to fully participate.
Got the good news... fully cleared!!!!!!!— Phillip Thomas (@Phil_Me16) April 4, 2014
Ryan Clark and Brandon Meriweather will go into the season as the starters. But they both are on the wrong side of 30 and both are working on one-year contracts this year. Bruce Allen talked about plans to have Thomas start last year before he was injured.
Thomas has a big opportunity in front of him and it’s good that he’ll be healthy as he tries to take advantage of it.
