She is in Washington dot com. Are we talking a little bit about it off camera how did you guys good at that and of course you guys were excited but what was that. Initial reaction and and how to guys celebrate. Well for me I was just completely shocked I mean I had -- there poor in the has so it was Robertson knowing that. The -- being drafted that high that your life is gonna change dramatically that you -- -- gonna become a professional. In that your goals and dreams were finally achieved this press recover from U vs that he. Being a basketball a football player it was kind of like -- I'm here. It's changed positions from wide receiver and a linebacker in two years. And there be drafted in the third round the first day of the National Football League and to goad played the National Football League was a huge experience. And they want my mentors really Clark who played at a house eating. Played for the Green Bay Packers at the time. You know we had a a nice little celebration in with a glass of champagne that I thought Jason you know. Like a baby's -- in an average or did you do anything that but it was -- -- -- two -- you celebrations I was the owls by myself so that -- -- better or some pizza and that was. Resonate when you -- all the champagne for the two of us -- took -- graduate. The the thing is that you grow up to report I grew up kind of dust pour again. You know that there were times that I had to had to put piece of cardboard in my shoe. So that the hole in my shoe would lead to all of my sock as I tried to walk to school so open piece of cardboard and all of a sudden there was more money there that I ever thought. You know I've ever seen and that was just kind of amazing and it was it was a it was a relief. That all the sudden I'd be able to go to restaurant and not have to. You know look at that look at the price before the order food it was a relief because I knew I'd be able to help mom and do some things with some of that money there was also relief because now. The the wondering was over now you knew what the path was going to be you knew what you were going to be challenged and there's a lot to do with that is until you're drafted. You're just out there and Euro I would your -- that you -- know where you're going what what the challenges. And now you start to get busy and get on with -- that is such a good feeling when your football player because when your stressed. Which you really wanted to do was get out and put. You said get on with that what's one thing you'll always remember from your rookie season I was the most clueless rookie catcher had never hit the NFL -- -- you know I was. Cool -- -- a really positive what's right I was just so and I know what to BYU we called Provo Utah the bubble. You know when I got to the New England Patriots as a first round draft which is senate -- It's going to be like college we're all gonna just win one for the team to win them for the city and all that it never dawned on me. The degree to which it was such a hard court cutthroat. Disease that took me couple years to figure that -- once I did then I kind of began to be a man in the NFL but until that I was literally Howdy -- with a mouthpiece. And for me away as you know -- it's 11 and -- in high leave it right. I should've seen that. For me it was you know it's one went 22 year old kid -- won Miami going to South Beach I mean being. You know the world orders are horses that there's pressure athlete so it was on those opportunities and you had a lot of good players sag as they Jason Taylor Zach Thomas who also younger Derrick Rodgers. Those top guys that you know brought me in and try to teach anyways so the thing that I learned. It's not like college where you know you have a coach telling you where to be you have classes the BAA you have to learn to be a professional and I found out the hard way. That you can't burn the candle at both ends you know -- it nightlife and then try to come out practice on dated in all this freedom. Have been Amanda -- professional way and like Trevor say you have money and everything else. That you have to learn how to do that and that's that's one -- is going to be RG three -- you know here's the Redskins. You know the opportunities is that we presented to him and that as it is all -- a fellow rookies around the league that -- have to remember to do their job and there's a time for play. -- -- -- You know what though I think that I think you sell yourself short. I think that -- on both ends on the football side that can handle the -- you were hard core professional. It on the southeast side out of -- -- -- or professional or professional about what you did. That the weather there yeah. The guys you're 24 hours away from kids having that excitement of their dream coming true thank you guys so much for stopping by -- Edmonton. CSN Washington dot com.
