Bruce Allen does not see the "Redskins" name as offensive
Fri, 15 Feb 2013|
CSN Washington dot com. I'm proud to be the general manager of the Washington Redskins. We we represented an iconic sports franchise since 81 years old that involves millions of fans worldwide. Best thousands of alumni. It's ludicrous to think in any way that we're trying to upset and we're proud of who we are proud of what we're going to be. And what we're gonna do here in the city of Richmond and -- we -- one. There's nothing there's nothing that. We feel that it's offensive. And we're proud of our history and you know. To suggest that the players and coaches and fans. Or thinking any other way I just -- it doesn't make sense. CSN Washington dot com.

CSN Washington dot com. So I saw you walk up to the line at tied game with a big smile on your face tell me what was going through your head as the seconds are lining downtown. Coach made shoot 500 because before this came so. The thoughts going through my head Justin knocked it down our team. Now you guys got the line 34 times made 25 of them obviously the 500 free throws were working because also 60% from the field. There in we've been working all week on just execution on offense. I was do this this week just execute and guard and I think we did a good job out there. He can't talk about the offense without talking about the defense had doubled up. Boards on they had twenty you guys had forty rebounds on the night you held them to under 32%. From outside I'm sure that was part of the game plan because they were entries last time. That was the first of the game was just protect the three point line and guard in we know our base can match have a is so we just stay connected on three point nine and the bigs did a great job. Now when it comes to playing team you knew it was going to be the last time here at least her. Quite awhile you come away with a win their number two and AP poll one in the coaches poll this is clearly a statement went for your team. There we needed you know coach told us that we needed a big statement win and then we just now everybody is committed to doing their part and it was a great win for us. CSN Washington dot com.
GEICO SportsNet Central Update with Rob Carlin
Sun, 17 Feb 2013
CSN Washington dot com. I am Geico sports net central update the for FedEx Field is widely regarded. As one of the worst in the NFL Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll calling it horrible after the playoff game but the Redskins decide to address the issue. By just resigning the playing surface instead of adding fielder. That we missed an opportunity. Last year during a window. Between the seventh game in the tenth game to re sod the field and once the schedule comes out our our people are ready to. Commit to it a schedule so we have some new sod from the end of the year. But obviously it's not gonna grow when out of Florida. But we think that's gonna address. The plain in December and hopefully Okay well they're from here in the Comcast sports net studios on rob Carlin for CSN Washington dot com. CSN Washington dot com.
Black History Month: Keith Gill's road to becoming University of Richmond's AD
Sun, 17 Feb 2013
CSN Washington dot com. Key skills journey to the University of Richmond actually started when he wrapped up his football playing days at Duke I talked to. Some coaches about potentially been mentioned those kind of things. I just being on the administrative side was a better fit for me I can touch more students. I touch more people in 2007. was named director of athletics recreation. At American University. After five successful years in a he was tired at the University of Richmond last December. The great thing about Richmond is we've got a great story to tell. You know got a great academic institution if you don't get great athletic to be really competitive and successful. I'm in a best programs in the sweet 162011. And them. 2010 in the ten title. Football one national championship in 2008. Last year we were CAA champions you know arguably the toughest that's just conference in the country. You know we were for the conference if you like your team is good since you turned to last three years so if you look at the quality of our programs what we've got a good felt. Keith Gil doesn't wanna be thought of as a TrailBlazer. He just wants to carry out mock of his parents. And in doing so maybe that can inspire. Others the group in South Carolina Jim Crow. You know and they didn't really you have access the formal education. And as they seem kind of you don't race relations in the United progressed. They've always said to us and also say you have got a brother and a sister and an older brother sister you guys can do anything you want to. No so don't be limited by anything you know and and done. And I really kind of believe that you know I mean that's something that they you know and there are probably good you know. Single biggest influence on my life. And done and I certainly know would be winning through to do it education and governor stressed enough. If you get an education you can do every one. CSN Washington dot com.
Black History Month: Bobby Mitchell, the first African-American Redskins player
Sun, 17 Feb 2013
CSN Washington dot com. We for this moment and we that sole voice that. That at some point you're watching the inaugural speech from Barack Obama. And his second term. And while he's talking they're taking shots. And case statue down there. And from your perspective your guy who. Knew Dr. Martin Luther King. What do mean to you to be able to see really those two men juxtaposed. This dynamic. Because it to turn. Mom was up and down the street in Washington sixties. There's a lot of places. We could even go and you. Know if people understand. And. Was to do most beautiful thing was it. He would get that monument where ideas. And then lo and behold we get a dynamic young black man His name that step into that golfers twice. I'm people really understand they really. RR RR robbed before. That's a fantastic thing you said it twice now already the game you're not sure if people understand. Do you think. And I'll But tool that you're talking today's young folk. Understand. The sacrifices that were made by folks like yourself obviously Doctor King as well. When you look at today's. Modern day. Young person do you real quick story next year Shanahan want me to come and talk to the gas I'm bearish on drafting him. And I agreed to do that the four and had a game here. And it was really something that went downstairs. To the meeting room. And in the meeting where Brad was sitting in front of course when you have been known comedians in and and now when I came in the bag doors he stopped meetings in which to meet somebody tall. And he went on to tell him real quickly who walks. And it was real funny thing he hit it as I was walking down between him going to the front when I was an assistant. Didn't look owned the face of on dad because some day and and there's no way they could. Understand what is what it and this was some Shanahan was bringing up that they see me and so on and so am on the walls. Still don't know we. And Sosa same thing with the the evolution of this. Segregation thing in the whole word is there. The young people just don't understand. I don't know what. The pluses of note because it's something that you should be happening automatic but was. Things in between. So when you watch today's quarterback for the Washington Redskins and Robert Griffin the third yes we've had Doug Williams obviously. If I Jason Campbell and now we have Robert Griffin the third as a quarterback of the terrorism is as an African American quarterback. The fact that the young folks don't know. The process but for Bobby Mitchell when you see it doesn't pitch you differently. Knowing what you know about the history of this franchise. Well. What he'll hit me really. Is a commotion over Robert. Because we thought. That the commotion we get who would we and he wouldn't be Mexico bullion. Because we were so excited. Him about daily and he's I would gas. And for this young man to step up. And just tickled with the whole. Thing went in pull out of ideas. As much as we love dove. There was still that segment. Have nice deal accepted him right as the first black quarterbacks of so don't steal they had those things. Only. Right now. RG. Is whatever he wanna be and that's the most beautiful Puerto. You're the first man of color to play. For that franchise. To this day still strike you that you were the man who broke that barrier. You know I don't I don't really think about that. It comes up. More than I kidding and then it's fair and getting into it but. The reason it doesn't affect me way people think issues that's when I came to watch and I was already and NFL star and if I'd been starting out as a rookie it is a good chance. That I probably wouldn't have made it basis dome put things away from the field. And they were filled to admire football talent were hurt me. But when that shock. Of the tile. It was very good did that already had four years in Cleveland would Jim Brown. Because I learned so merchant strong guy and everywhere and so whenever I would feel. Down. It's almost like what's what would you do. And that's I was strong. And so the best thing happened to me is that I had already played in Italy. And I was able to take home all of those things and steal poor form. Because I didn't performed in all those people who make it tough for me. What these hands down. CSN Washington dot com.
