CSN Washington dot com as Martin's certainly joins us from the Golf Channel. In Orlando not far away from that spring training here the story lines. Stephen Strasburg gearing up for a full season on the mound. Rafael Soriano the group closer how does that work with the guys who used to be closers and Bryce Harper ready for what we expect. Will be a monster. Season and let's start with mark obviously Stephen Strasburg now the rains have been taken off is he ready to become may be. The best or in the class of the best pitchers in baseball. You know he certainly wants to be guys I think he's really happy to have the shot down behind him. He's focused on this season he wants to go 200 innings for the season he wants a -- and October he wants to go deeper in the games you know this is gonna knock at -- that sometimes. The pitch count to get up there he wants to be more efficient was really working on some stuff this year to try to get ahead in the count more. Get through those early innings a little faster to get into the seventh eighth inning maybe in the ninth inning. So the rains are off for the most part and it to me he was a guy who's determined to come out this year and show that he is one of the very best in baseball. Generally considered to you real quick you see something different in his game is his approach. Could this season when there is no innings limit -- his approach to I think Toby he's trying to be more pitch efficient and he's added a two seamer when it especially when he's behind in the count last year. It really hurt him in -- in the first pitch. 10 count 20 council now he has a two seamer. Those hitters they can't look at first pitch fastball it's something else in the back of their minds I think that's gonna be a nice real addition to him I think he'll be better in those counts. The nets' starting rotation one through five may be the best in baseball six and seven even amongst the best in baseball but that back end of the rotation last year -- so good throughout most of the season. But in the playoffs things fell apart time the true story stored in Tyler Clippers the -- go out and bring in Raphael Soriano the best closer on the market. Mark do you like this move where's it going to be tough on Davey Johnson to juggle. Egos. Well I like it from a baseball standpoint and that you know this wasn't a move they really had to make they they were perfectly comfortable with store and who I think people forget pitched really well up until game five of the playoffs he -- he was fantastic in September once he was healthy. Didn't have to do this the Soriano was available they say let's go strengthen what's already one of our strengths. He's gonna pitch the ninth and I have storm and clipper pitching the -- I think store and get a couple of save opportunities here and there when Soriano needs a break. But the biggest thing is going to be store and mentally how does he approaches they've talked a lot about it but they don't want him to view this as a demotion or anything like that they're not. Judging him based on one inning of one game at the end of the season. But until he gets out there in that situation again I think it's hard to know exactly how I was gonna deal with it. Well the nets also have. In addition Stephen Strasburg really one of the best pitchers in baseball they certainly have a guy is ready for monster breakout season as a lifelong met fan who's going to be. Tortured by this kid for a long time I've never been more excited to watch the development of player -- -- with Bryce Harper and I'm talking about. 32035. Home runs a hundred plus RBIs and is it outrageous for me to throughout those kind of numbers -- now Bryce Harper notes. Out in the interesting thing he expects to do that Tim he has that type of confidence in him and aged. We signed him as -- and nineteen year old where it was historic in Major League Baseball I think he is. In store for that again as a twenty year old a couple things impressed me. One if you look at him in spring training how big he's gotten the amount of work didn't get in the offseason nobody but he hasn't lost his flexibility that's number one. The second thing is is we saw last year bigger adjustment that he makes for the second time around the league. Teams are throwing him a lot of breaking balls and you saw a great September hit 337. Home runs and -- one that's a great month for for anybody for nineteen year old it's amazing and I think there's pleased that was really a stepping stone for him for this year. CSN Washington dot com.
