The Wizards have a shot at closing the year with a .500 record after Saturday's blowout of the Detroit Pistons and also avenged a season-opening loss on the road.


Despite the bad fortune when it comes to injuries and lapses in defensive play, the Wizards have a chance to end the year with a .500 record by beating the Pistons twice in a row. 


The season opens Wednesday for two teams that are expected to be playoff contenders in the East after lengthy absences. 


The outlook for the Wizards has shifted  upward since they ended the 2012-13 season with 29 wins.


With four summer league games under their belt, what can be gleaned from rookies Otto Porter and Glen Rice thus far?
