Free and loose and with only the future to play for, the Chicago Fire presented a threat to D.C. United’s bid to celebrate a first place finish in the Eastern Conference in front of its fans.
D.C. United was playing in Houston. The Black and Red had never won there in 12 previous trips in all competitions. For United to get a win it was never going to be easy and it wasn’t.
