Josh Childress

Not finding the big man they wanted in Thursday's NBA draft, the Wizards are hoping they can retool their bench with some experience and unrealized potential such as Daniel Orton.

Josh Childress didn't exactly have the chance to showcase his swingman skills as a member of the Wizards preseason roster.  That didn't stop the veteran from landing a job in the NBA.

The Washington Wizards have waived Josh Childress, Pops Mensa-Bonsu, and Xavier Silas to trim their final regular-season roster down to 15, general manager Ernie Grunfeld announced on Thursday.

After Wednesday's 101-82 victory vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers closed out the preseason, the Wizards hadn't made their roster moves official to get down to 15 players.

Something about the Miami Heat brings out the fire in the Wizards, and they were impressive for the first time in three preseason games Tuesday at Verizon Center.
