(June 27,2011) The National CapitalChesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts &Sciences (NATAS) recognized Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic with six 2010 EmmyAwards at the 53rd Annual Emmy Awards Gala on Saturday, June 25. The six awardswon by Comcast SportsNet led all cable networks and tied for fourth overall inthe region, which includes all of Maryland, Virginia and the District ofColumbia.ComcastSportsNets six awards the second most won by the network since 2001 were earnedin five different categories, including live sporting event. Capitals ShootoutWin (Bill Bell and Steve Farrell) was named as the regions top live game,marking the fourth time the network has been honored for its coverage of theWashington Capitals since 2004 and the sixth overall award in this categorysince 2001.Thenetworks coverage of the Capitals earned additional recognition as JoeBeninati claimed his second consecutive Emmy Award for play-by-play. Thisyears award is the sixth for Beninati in the sports play-by-play category inthe past 10 years. He also won the top honor in 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006 and2009.TrevorMatich was named as the regions top sports analyst for his contributions toComcast SportsNets NFL coverage, including Redskins Kickoff and RedskinsPostgame Live. Matich has now won four Emmy Awards in the past four years,including three as the regions top sports analyst (2010, 2009 and 2007) andone for Redskins Kickoff.ComcastSportsNets marketing and creative services department also captured three EmmyAwards in on-air promotion categories (Austin Krablinand Jason Pavelko). The winning on-air promotions were for campaigns involvingthe Capitals, Redskins and SportsNet Central, the networks daily news program.ComcastSportsNet was nominated for eight 2010 Emmy Awards.
