In this feature by Mark Zuckerman from Nationals spring training, Bryce Harper and Matt Williams talk about how the outfielder will approach 2014 given his injury history. Harper is hoping to continue playing hard, but also play smarter in order to preserve his health.
"I'm still going to play every game like it's the last game I'm ever going to play in my career. That's just how I play and how I'm going to do it," he said.
Williams discusses the balance of keeping him safe while not reeling him in too much. Harper appreciates his manager's concern, and believes Williams is a good fit for the job.
"Matt understands the way I play because that's the way he played," Harper said.
