STL Open Mic: B-Mitch talks with David Ortiz
Baseball fans always love a giveaway. Take last June's Bryce Harper bobblehead game where thousands of fans showed up hours before gates opened just to get their hands on one. Almost immediately the items were showing up on eBay with selling prices up to $100.
Bobbleheads are cool, so are t-shirts, but a new promotion announced by the Nats on Thursday just may top them all. On Aug. 5, with the New York Mets in town, the Nats will hand out Jayson Werth garden gnomes. It's not clear yet how many they will distribute, sometimes it's only for the first 15,000 fans or so, but they will exist and Nationals.com proves it.
Baseball garden gnomes aren't entirely new, here's one for sale on GnomeFrenzy.com with a Nationals theme:
And here's one depicting Brian Wilson that the Giants gave away in 2011:
Werth's should be the first for the Nationals and will likely receive a lot of interest from Nats fans. If you want one, you might want to show up early that afternoon in August.
