Johnson, Werth frustrated by series loss
Jayson Werth continued his scorching month of July on Thursday night with two hits in four at-bats against the Phillies. He now has 14 hits in his last eight games and has raised his season average to .297.
But Werth's effort on Thursday was wasted in another Nationals' loss that saw little life from their offense as a whole. The team mustered just one run off five hits in their 3-1 loss in Philly, a poor offensive output with All-Star Jordan Zimmermann on the mound and pitching well.
Frustrations may have mounted after the game when Werth was speaking to the media. While answering a question in Philadelphia's visitors clubhouse, Werth walked away from reporters after being bothered by a microphone being too close to his face.
