Of the Wizards two rookies, it's hardly surprising that it was first round selection Otto Porter receiving at least some Rookie of the Year award love from his fellow first-year players in a poll conducted by NBA.com.
That's not to say second round selection Glen Rice Jr. didn't receive attention.
Each player received mention in three categories. Besides the Rookie of the Year race, Porter tied for fifth in the "Which player will have the best career" category and landed in the "others" section for "Which rookie is being overlooked" - along with Rice.
Additionally, the swingman picked up a mention for "best playmaker" and "funniest." Here's hoping that sense of humor comes out during post game media sessions.
None of this means anything, though funny is funny. Also, other second round picks received some mention, but certainly not every rookie did. Only 10 players picked up a vote in the "playmaker" category, including Rice, while 21 did in "overlooked."
Beyond the Wizards having deep options on the perimeter, Rice's minutes hinge on playing defense and shot selection. Any issue with the former D-Leaguer does not involve lack of talent.
Just ask his fellow rookies.
