NEW ORLEANS -- Maybe John Wall should try to erase the audio. The night before Sunday's All-Star Game tipped, another key matchup took place in the world of college basketball when his Kentucky Wildcats faced the Florida Gators.
While Wall, a first-time All-Star, was winning the slam-dunk contest and Wizards teammate Bradley Beal came close but finished second in the three-point shootout, Kentucky was outscored by 13 points in the second half and lost to the No. 3 team in the country, 69-59. Beal went to Florida, of course. It's not clear if he got word of the stakes set by Wall, but he's certain to make him live up to his word.
"He know what's up with me. He might not want to want to see me today," Wall said before Saturday's events. "You know how that is, you've got a big rivalry going on. I'll give him a look. He got to wear that Kentucky onesie if we win. I have to wear that Florida onesie if they win. He don't know that yet. That's what I made. I'm the big brother so I make the rules. To practice. All day."
The Wizards practice late Monday after players report to Verizon Center in preparation for Tuesday's game vs. the Toronto Raptors (CSN, 7 p.m. ET).
Wall, however, said given time constraints the onesie wearing might have to wait a day or two.
Hopefully, there's a camera around.
