Wizards Schedule

At least from a television coverage standpoint, the John Wall and the Wizards begin their chase for a coveted playoff berth against the best of the best.

Comcast SportsNet released its TV schedule on Wednesday, featuring 72 games on CSN and 12 more on CSN Plus for a total of 84 games including the entire regular season.

The coverage tips of with a preseason matchup against defending champion Miami at Verizon Center on Oct. 15 (7 p.m.) followed by the 2013 Baltimore Basketball Classic on Oct. 17 (7 p.m.) against the New York Knicks. The network’s regular-season schedule starts with the Wizards at Detroit on Oct. 30 (7:30 p.m.).

Among the regular season highlights are:

Oct. 30 – The regular season opener puts the Wizards in Detroit and pits Washington against last season's nemesis. The Pistons swept the season series 5-0. Both squads put themselves in position for a playoff push in 2013-14.

Nov. 16 – Assuming no more injury woes, Wall and Kyrie Irving will matchup for the first time since the 2011-12 season when Washington hosts the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Nov. 23 - Carmelo Anthony and the Knicks make their only D.C. appearance of the season. Washington plays in New York on Dec. 16 and April 4.

Nov. 26 - Kobe Bryant keeps talking about returning sooner than expected after suffering an Achilles injury. Whether Kobe makes it back this soon or not, the never boring Lakers are in town.

Dec. 2 - Mr. Oladipo goes to Washington, or rather former DeMatha product and Indiana Hoosier star Victor Oladipo returns home to face fellow rookie Otto Porter and the Wizards.

Jan.1 – By the time everyone is no longer bowl-ed over with college football, the Wizards and Dallas Mavericks tipoff at 6 p.m. from the Verizon Center.

Jan. 15 - Even those sitting at home probably will feel compelled to join in for a chorus of boos when LeBron James and the Heat arrive in Washington for their first regular season appearance of the season.

April 5 - The Wizards and Chicago Bulls meet for the third and final time in the regular season. That means three opportunities for a Wall-Derrick Rose battle including in the series finale at the Verizon Center.

April 16 - Will a playoff berth be at stake when the Wizards close out their regular season schedule with road game against the Boston Celtics?

The award-winning team of Steve Buckhantz, Phil Chenier and Chris Miller will handle CSN's coverage throughout the Wizards'' season.

The Wizards open camp on September 28.
