The Wizards have a lot of decisions to make as free agency opens Tuesday, but Marcin Gortat and Trevor Ariza likely will fall in line first before addressing the others.
They're negotiating with both of their unrestricted free agents and should get at least one of the deals done Tuesday.
The same holds true for every other NBA team. Why? They'll command the biggest salaries that'll tie up most of the salary cap money, so that has to be sorted out first before the Wizards can determine how to divvy up the rest between Drew Gooden, Garrett Temple and others.
As Bird free agents, Gortat and Ariza can sign for as many as five years, making the Wizards' chances of keeping him much greater.
The risk of fully-guaranteed deals of this length is Gortat is already 30 and Ariza turned 29 on Monday.
