D.C. United midfielder Marcelo Saragosa underwent surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee, the team announced on Friday.
Saragosa received the medial meniscectomy on Thursday in Silver Spring, Md. and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. This is his second surgery in the last two months with a procedure on his right knee performed on May 14.
A nine-year MLS veteran, Saragosa has appeared in seven games with the Black-and-Red this season, playing 320 total minutes. He played 16 games for DCU last season and recorded a goal and an assist.
Saragosa was acquired by D.C. United on Feb. 6, 2012 from the Azerbaijan first division. The Brazilian native previously played in MLS with Chivas USA, L.A. Galaxy, and FC Dallas.
