Another major hint that the Washington Wizards will indeed don red and white blue uniforms next year as the WNBA's Washington Mystics will change the team's colors to that scheme next season and will have a new logo as well. Both the Wizards and Mystics plus the red white and blue clad NHL's Washington Capitals are all now owned and run by Monumental Sports with Ted Leonsis as majority owner. Since he took over, Leonsis has made it clear he would like his team's to all have a common color scheme.
Wizards GM Ernie Grunfeld leaked the news at the start of this season that the team would go back to the colors of red white and blue which fueled speculation the franchise would change the nickname back to the Bullets with new ownership in place. Leonsis, however has shot down that rumor numerous times and has yet to officially say the Wizards will have new colors next year but he did say the league is looking at potential logos and uniforms.
The Mystics unveiled the new look at a team function tonight introducing new coach Trudi Lacey. The Mystics have had the same colors as the Wizards since the team's first season in 1998.
