The day after Mike Shanahan benched Rex Grossman in the fourth quarter of their loss to the Eagles, Santana Moss was one of a few Redskins who spoke out in favor of Grossman remaining the starting quarterback. It did not work out that way, of course, and John Beck got the starting job for the next three games. Moss did not have much of an opportunity to play with Beck as he suffered a broken hand in the first half of Becks first start against Carolina. By the time he got back in the lineup two weeks ago against Dallas Grossman had been put back in as the starter.Still, Moss has a strong preference for having Grossman behind center. I like the opportunities that he gives me as a quarterback, Moss said on Thursday. Ive had my years where I didnt have the opportunity. Its too late to be sitting here going through those same pains.Even with Grossman in as the quarterback for all but three quarters of the seven games Moss has played this year, the 32-year-old receiver is on pace to have one of the worst seasons of his career even if you project his productivity over a full 16-game season. In seven games this year, Moss has 29 receptions for 330 yards and two touchdowns. Over 16 games that would be 66 receptions for 755 yards and four TDs.The 66 catches would be his worst total since 2006 when he caught 55 passes from an aging Mark Brunell and a green Jason Campbell. The yardage would be his lowest since 2002, his second year in the NFL with the Jets when he as not a starter.
Moss likes Rex at QB but should he?
