Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder has left his team’s game against the Redskins with an apparent arm injury.
Late in the third quarter Ponder scrambled for the end zone from the 16-yard line. As he got near the goal line he reached the ball out to try to stretch it across as he went to the ground near the left sideline. Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall met him as he went for the touchdown.
The officials called it a touchdown but Ponder came up holding his left (non-throwing) arm. The call was reversed on replay and Matt Cassel came in and handed off to Adrian Peterson for a one-yard touchdown run. That gave the Vikings a 28-27 lead.
Ponder threw a few warmup tosses on the sideline but he soon left for the locker room. Shortly after that the NFL Network said that Ponder was out for the rest of the game.
Ponder was 17 for 21 passing for 174 yards, 2 touchdowns and one interception.
