Haslett expects changes to the defense next year

With the Redskins’ 2013 season winding down, CSNWashington.com will be keeping an eye on the upcoming college bowl games and the NFL prospects who could be on Washington’s radar in 2014 draft.

What: R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl

Who: Tulane vs. UL Lafayette

When: Saturday Dec. 21, 9:00 pm, ABC

Players to watch:

With the contracts of Josh Morgan and Santana Moss expiring the Redskins could look a wide receiver or two in the draft. Tulane wide receiver Ryan Grant is a fifth-year senior who had 70 catches for the Green Wave in 2013. He plays taller that his 6-foot-1 height might suggest; one report said that “he uses all of his height to go after the ball” with well-timed jumps and tenacity.

Inside linebacker Justin Anderson (6-feet-2, 232) is a tackling machine and with the retirement of London Fletcher that’s just what the Redskins might be looking for. The converted defensive end led the Ragin’ Cajuns with 123 tackles including 10 for a loss. On the season he had six games with double-digit sacks. He also demonstrated some playmaking ability as he returned an interception for a touchdown in each of the last two seasons.
