The Redskins re-signed fullback Darrel Young to a three-year contract extension on Saturday, according to a source with knowledge of the deal.
Young established himself as one of the game’s top fullbacks last season. In addition to opening holes for the NFL’s top rushing offense, the 25-year-old also recorded career highs for attempts on the ground (14) and yards (60). Young added eight receptions passes (on nine targets) for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
Young’s new contract could be worth as much as $6.2 million and included a $1 million signing bonus.
The deal comes just hours after the Redskins re-signed tight end Logan Paulsen to a three-year contract extension. Both players would have become restricted free agents on Tuesday.
