Another week, another former Redskin is involved in a concussion-related lawsuit against the NFL.Fred Smoot, a cornerback in Washington from 2001-2004 and from 2007-2009, is among 14 players who have filed suit in the Southern District of Smoot's home state of Mississippi on Tuesday.The webstite NFLConcussionLitigation.com says that, According to the complaint, the NFL ignored established peer-reviewed medicalliterature regarding concussions and needlessly exposed its players to substantial additional risk by allowing concussed players to re-enter games.Approximately 1,500 former players are parties to similar lawsuits around the country. The effects of concussions and other contact-related brain issues are very much in the news due to the death of Junior Seau. Some have theorized that his death, which is being investigated as a suicide, may have been related to brain trauma sustained during his 20-year NFL career.
